Hope so too. The 1st one was not the best but 2 and 3 was a great time! XenoBlade is better and if you know the story of the dev of Saga, i can understand.... it might be better as a legacy. But again, XenoGears was a start! Just glad the story of Blade is so great! When can we expect 4... haha

@Llama: Harade from Namco has said a few times now they aren't interested in doing a xenosaga re-release. They don't think it'll sell well enough. That sucks. Hopefully they change their minds.

@Phreak Good. I'm like still on Xeno 2 Torna and want to complete it before going to 3 but it's so much.... I feel sorry and wish I was in that position for anybody who hasn't played the games yet and looking to start! Wonder if they might one day give us XenoSaga re-release on Switch if they can make a deal with Sony)

Little bit of a serious thread for a change, just something happened that has pissed me off and makes me laugh at "discrimination".

So story is as follows:

Yesterday my uncle is at the gym the same gym hes been going to for the past 15 years. He has a bad shoulder and needs to do this thing where he puts a hard ball against the wall and runs it between his shoulders.

He was doing this in the suna at the gym, when another guy walks in and ask's him what he is doing, so he explains everything and then they sit quite for 5 minutes. Here's where things now get [censored] up:

The guy gets up, and sit down right next to my uncle grabs his wedding tackle and tries to kiss him. My uncle throws the guy off screaming what the hell, only to get the reply "What's your problem! Sundays are gay afternoon at the gym".

In short a fight broke out after that and my uncle beat the up pretty badly, admittedly probably more than he should of but still can't say I would probably lost it too.

Now this guy is sueing my uncle for assault. My uncles attorney said they can counter sue for sexual assault, but he will be honest it's going to be hard for him because it's now being called a homophobic attack.

-------------

On personal level I really couldnt careless about peoples sexual preference or anything like that. The fact though that some guy now has a foothold in a case where is actually the perpetrator just because he is gay is utterly ridiculous, what's even worse is this guy is doing this on a sunday afternoon in public property.

Young children go into gyms as well but oh no sunday afternoons are gay afternoons so shaking hands with the german in the suna is now perfectly acceptable?

The same kinda of injustices can been seen in all cases with minority groups now. Guy breaks into a house and gets shot, sues the people who was breaking into because it is a racial attack!

My step brother originally lost his son in a custody battle against his backshit ex wife because he was male, and "the child should be with their mother". Only to get his son back two years later after social services got reports of the mother abusing the kid.

Somewhere along the line the "equality" minority groups are fighting for has gone to a ball of[censored]. By all means I do not believe this is the bulk of people in these groups, but the fact the world is so[censored] scared to do anything to them that they get special treatment is really a load of crap as well.

Most of the members of so called minority groups are decent people who don't go around causing[censored] for other people (like how most members of the majority groups do the same) but the ones who get in the news are the kind who are like you describe and then try hide behind the "You just hate me because I'm different" shield.

Personally I'd probably have reacted violently if a man tried to force himself on me but after throwing the other guy off I'd have gone to the manager and complained.
Depending on the manager, it'd probably end up with me cancelling my gym membership and the guy who sexually assaulted me getting off free.

Unfortunately, we will see more and more of this kind of thing.
A law is introduced to protect innocent/vulnerable people, but it will ALWAYS, ALWAYS be abused.

In the same way, pretty much anything I do against an African person WILL be seen as racism, never mind the circumstances. If it is NOT flagged as racism, some focus group will immediately start screaming and shouting how we are "covering it up".

Same as the above, a normal dispute will spiral out of control because one party is gay. Conflict might not have anything to do with preference, but it will be drawn out and twisted to be homophobic.

It's sad and terrible, but that's the world for you...

Woof - that is just disgusting, hope ur uncle wins coz sexual assult is worse than physical assault right? Awhile back in Rbay, this black dude called this Indian chick the B word in front of her daughter so she told her daughter this is what a "word cannot be said" is. She got sued . Its a funny world we live in.

Minoritys are becoming the new hipsters IMO.

I dont get why people have to flash their preference, religion, gender or race in situations and when it gets negative they play the victim card.

I read this somewhere - If Asians (Japanese, Koreans, Philipz, Malyazm Chinese) count for for more than half the worlds populations, maybe they are the one's with normal eyes and we have the weird googly eyes.

Look I have never been in that situation, but I have heard stories. The law on self defense is pretty settled. You are allowed to use reasonable force to defend yourself if you are in imminent danger of physical harm. Firstly the test is subjective, i.e. the court asks what the defendant, your uncle believed at that time. Basically it looks at his state of mind. Secondly the use of force is only justifiable in order to prevent or halt an attack. The example we used to use in law school was, if attacked with a pencil, stopping the attack with a gun and killing the assilant is not reasonable. Unfortunately from what you posted here your uncle seems to have gone past what is reasonable. A shove, punch kick to the meat and two veg, would probably have been enough to get away from the @$$ and stop the assault. He definitely should lay a charge against the guy as sexual assault is sexual assault and this [censored] shouldn't get away with it. Sad truth is that there are sexual predators regardless of orientation and your uncle just happened to run into one.

Having said that, this is completely unacceptable and gym management tend to turn a blind eye to this crap and it has to stop.

Back to your question though. Yes minority groups are still minorities. They still need special protections as discrimination against gays is very much entrenched in society. For example just take a look at the corrective rapes of lesbians that occur in the townships. In my view a minority is not only defined by numbers relative to the whole population, but to the relative power they wield in society both politically and economically.

Sexual assault is sexual assault. Even it was done by a blue-transgender-crossdressing-one armed-midget it is still sexual assault.

But like Magius said it really depends on how your uncle handled the situation. If he attacked the person on a personal level like attacking him physically past the point to stop the situation or verbally/emotionally attacking the person (especially on their minority differences) then it could be seen as a hate attack.

We are talking about minority's here but for me its more about dropping the victim mindset - which can occur in majortities too. That gay man probably had some incident in his past where hate was directed at him for him being different which is why he may have became angry sooner. Just like with BEE (majority focused) where people can't move past being the victim, when really everyone creates their own situation and reality. Every single person in this world has something that they feel makes them broken or different. There are cases where these people should be protected/represented (like the gay attacks Magius mentioned), but there has to be a point where sociality stops mollycoddling and starts changing that mindset.

As I said my uncle whacked him probably harder than he should of, the guys got a broken nose, split eyelid and when he fells backwards he fractured his skull on the floor.

Though from the witnesses there, while they said he called the guy many things not one of those was a derogatory term for gay people.

My point I'm making is that this can even be contested, as you all say sexual assault is sexual assault, but the fact is they are now going to have to spend time bouncing back and forth in court over if it was homophobic attack or not.

And even if the other guy does get charged, there's still a chance my uncle could face charges.

While I agree minority groups still need protecting I do think, the level of protection is becoming a-bit ridiculous in certain situations, where so much bias is lumped towards the minority party compared to the average straight middle aged white guy.

Ugh. What did I just read?

@Woofels: Thing is this type of sexual assualt happens to women on a daily basis. Despite the lewd comments at women in schools and offices they are the subjects of groping and rape all the time. By straight men.

Guy deserved what he got though, IMO, can't just go around touching other peoples junk, no matter what sex, gender, orientation, blah bla blah you are.

Do I think minorities are still "minorities" well that sounds like something only somebody who isn't part of a "minority" group would say, with all due respect.

Hope it all works out, though.

^^

Wolf not necessarily, you can class me as a minority these days. Yea I am not black, or gay but I am a 27 year old white south African male and to be honest these days that generally give me a harder time than it should.

When i was looking for a job - sorry you are male, sorry this is a B.E.E only position. Half the time I feel like I get the short end of the stick purely because of it.

Correct me if I am wrong isn't this what minority groups are fighting against? Wanting equality for all regardless of race, gender, religion or sexual preference?

Nothing is changing is now one of the parties is scared to stick up for themselves or speak out because they are afraid of getting in trouble with the law? By all means injustices are carried out every single day against other people in the name of all stupid stuff.

Point I am making when the Minority parties now have such a foot hold, and yes as stated the bulk of people who are part of a minority won't pull the victim card. Issue is there are those people that are willing to pull that card out at any given second.

As you say, women deal with sexual assault constantly. Had this been a situation where this was my aunt and a man, there wouldnt even been a contest or a case her. He could of put him in the hospital with mace in his eyes and he wouldn't of gotten in crap.

The guy would be charged with sexual assault and that would be that. Fact remains now this guy get's to now have some leeway and a case against my uncle just because he's gay?

That's what I am trying to say, it really is a load of [censored]. If that's equality than maybe I learnt english from the wrong people.

Apologies for the lack of big words - you guys are all so smart

I actually can't believe what your telling us. Its disgusting.

I'm gay and I find this appalling. What kind of f****** idiot does something so inappropriate and assumes your uncle would respond in his favor? He deserved what he got.

If it were me, just because I'm gay doesn't mean anything - I would be pretty pissed off and would have probably thrown him off me too and depending on how angry I was I could give him black eye.
And there would be no victim card to be played.

But because your uncle is straight, this whole case has become something else. Its really sad and just proves how much more messed up the world is becoming.

The gay minority is so glamorized these days! And sadly its losers like this guy who make the community look bad. There is all this yearning for equality and bla bla bla yet you get these mother f****** who would commit crimes and do unsavory things like this, who end up playing the race card/gay card/whatever damn card to get away with it.

Where have the good old days gone, where you get a hiding for doing something stupid, shake hands and walk away with a little bruised ego! That was consider "justice served".

@ Woofels - Pitty your uncle has to go through an assault charge, one that I'll guarantee you won't see a court. There will probably be some sort of "out of court" settlement, this happens to most assault cases these days, courts are just too full to bother with[censored] like this. Still doesn't make it right. I'm with your uncle on this one, I'd also smack 7 shades of[censored] out any guy that touched me in any other way than shaking my hand.

And no, I'm not a homophobe, I have 3 VERY gay friends, and we are good friends, do I agree with it? Well that's another discussion for another day, but one thing about my mates and most of their mates is, they respect other ppl's views and sexuality. They'll never touch, make moves or do anything to make myself or any of my straight friends uneasy. They are fantastic friends, and I probably trust their more than any of my other mates, but their boundries and my boundries are always respected, something this Tosser that tried[censored] with your uncle should've practised, he got what he deserved, and with the way he's carrying on...your Uncle won't be the last guy to smack him around.
