No one is forcing hate on anything. Gamers are really upset with how poorly Ubisoft has handled a lot of the cultural aspects of the game.
I wouldn’t call 61k all time peak on Steam “fine” though. And if we want to include console numbers, the estimated numbers for those can be done with a little math and deduction or watching this video https://youtu.be/drYxtli0MeA?si=OlVsB25EJ-Q5KfWE
And I am well aware Ubisoft announced an apparent 2 million “players” keyword: “Players”. Not sales. I am curious as to they they refuse to speak of actual sales numbers.
I think the problem is an extremely vocal minority rush to defend games that they do not even plan on playing themselves. As a person who thoroughly enjoyed the Ezio trilogy and the OG, I personally think the series became stagnant and boring to the manner of COD. AC 3 was my last entry and lost interest after that.
Not telling people not to play the game, but I made the same points with Veilguard. I will always be against companies that are anti-consumer
Kinda sad to see how forced Shadows hate is especially when it seems to be doing perfectly fine. Oh well, still busy with Wilds, looking forward to picking this up later in the year, maybe when the PSSR patch drops
In 2020 peak concurrent users on Steam was 20 million and total was 120 million. In 2025 there are currently 69 million concurrent users with a total of 132 million.
@Kiryu, those figures are above AC: Origins' max Steam player count (#3), though behind AC: Odyssey (#1). There's also no data for the Ubisoft app, where you can buy it or play it as part of the Ubisoft+ subscription service (something you couldn't do when Origins/Odyssey released). We'll need to see what the console situation is and how Ubisoft frame it at their next quarterly report.
